Course Content

The program combines academic expertise and practitioner experiences to develop managerial skills for healthcare settings, incorporating diverse sector conversations and global perspectives. Delivered by IIM Calcutta faculty and industry experts, it focuses on three core axes.

  • This module provides an overview of the global and Indian healthcare landscape, including healthcare systems, regulatory and ethical issues, and public policies in different countries. The module enables the participants to develop a comparative perspective to healthcare systems as well as to understand the underlying socio-political choices

  • Healthcare systems in India and abroad

  • Regulatory and ethical issues specific to the healthcare sector

  • Public policies in healthcare

  • The module covers topics such as operational aspects of hospital planning and structure, quality and accreditation, the use of data and technology in healthcare organizations, and the economics of the healthcare sector that are of relevance to managers of healthcare organizations

  • Health economics

  • Health analytics

  • Entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector

  • Harnessing technology in the healthcare sector

  • Designing effective healthcare organizations

  • This module provides exposure to knowledge of a breadth of functional management domains such as marketing, organizational design, strategic management, human resources management, leadership, conflict and negotiation, operations management (supply chain, project management), accounting, and finance

  • Participants will explore how foundational management principles from these functional domains can be applied in the healthcare sector

  • Financial statement analysis and financial management

  • In addition, there will be sessions to strengthen individual competencies like communication and basic statistical skills.

Who this program is for?

Healthcare professionals in general, and specifically, hospital administrators, doctors, professionals from medical and allied sectors such as pharmaceuticals and medical insurance as well as healthcare entrepreneurs.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Medical practitioners and administrators with MBBS/BDS/BAMS degree or equivalent recognised by UGC/AICTE/MCI or equivalent. Students with biotechnology and biomedical background (bachelor’s degree or above) are also eligible to apply. Applicants should have minimum three years of experience* in healthcare sector as on application closure date.

  • Applicants from other disciplinary backgrounds shall also be eligible, provided they have minimum five years of experience in healthcare sector as on application closure date.

  • All applicants need to have minimum 50% marks [aggregate – considering results of all years] in graduation/post-graduation.

  • *Internships and trainee experiences will not be considered as full-time work experience.

Selection Criteria

The selection will be based on candidate’s profile evaluation – educational qualification, allied experience, Statement of Purpose – subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

Fees Notes

*GST @ 18% will be added as applicable **Processing Fee contains ₹13,100 towards the Registration Fee and ₹6,900 towards the Total Course Fees. The processing Fee of ₹20,000 is refundable in case the participant’s profile is rejected by IIM Calcutta subject to a deduction of ₹2,500 as Administrative Charges. This is concerning the refund of the Processing Fees; please note that the Processing Fee shall not be refunded in the following circumstances In case the candidate rejects the offer issued by the Institute. In case the application is rejected due to submission of incomplete documents and/or providing incomplete information and/or eligibility criteria not fulfilled. Total course fee is (Exclusive of registration fee and on-campus stay).

Certificate Details

  • Candidates will successfully complete the programme if they have met the attendance criteria and have received ‘poor’ grades in not more than two courses.

  • Successful candidates will receive a ‘Certificate of Completion’ from IIM Calcutta.

  • Those with requisite participation but unable to complete successfully will receive a ‘Certificate of Participation’.
